πŸ€— Favorite Chapter Book Series For Kids!

"So I hope you're gonna make it worth all of the time I'm about to give you"

Worth It by Raye

Hello Hello Reader!

The trick to getting your child to fall in love with chapter books is to find a really good series. I've noticed many juvenile novels are a part of a series! When a young reader falls in love with a character, this can be an absolute gold mine. Next thing you know they are binge reading the books, drawing pictures of the characters, and staying up late at night to read the next chapter.

I've got 5 series that kids fall in love with. These are ideal for third graders, but accessible and appropriate for children 2nd grade and up.

Geronimo Stilton series by Geronimo Stilton

If you've got a kiddo that only reads graphic novels, this series may open them up to more types of books. Colorful and bold this series follows mouse journalist Geronimo Stilton. He shares his stories traveling around the world and getting out of sticky situations. These books are laugh out loud funny and captivating.

Unicorn Academy series by Julie Sykes

If you've got a little one that loves whimsical stories, Unicorn Academy is for them. Every student is paired with their own unicorn that unique magical powers. A little bit of magic, adventure, and friendship makes this a captivating series for kids.

Dyamonde Daniels series by Nikki Grimes

Dyamonde Daniels (pronounced like Diamond) is just a regular third grader trying to make it through the school year. This series is popular because she's so relatable. I love this series because it opens up space for conversations about real 9 year old problems.

The One and Only... series by Katherine Applegate

The Newbery Medal winning series based on a true story follows the story of Ivan the Gorilla. Ivan lives in a cage at the mall for entertainment and his rescue. This story, which has been made into a show on Disney, will tug at your heartstrings. If you have a kiddo that's interested in animals or activism this is a great series for them.

Note: The writing style of this story is suited for children in third grade and up.

I Survived series... by Lauren Tarshis

This captivating historical fiction series follows the lives of kids that survived real disasters. There are countless events covered, so you can probably find one regionally close to you. There's a section in the back with historical information so your child is learning real history. Best part is, most of the books are $3.99

Note: Some of these disasters might feel a little scary for some kids. Check in as they read and direct their energy into education on how we can have safety plans for emergencies and ways engineering, meteorology, and medical care have made the world a safer place.

What series am I missing? Send in your recommendations and how old your child is (or was when they read them) .

What's New?

πŸŽ₯ 3rd Grade: I'm so excited to introduce the grade level series! First up is 3rd Grade! I worked with real third grade teachers to create this video. I share favorite tips to ensure your child has the best year possible. I will be releasing a video for every grade level over the next year, so any feedback is so helpful!

4️⃣ Next up: The next grade level series is fourth grade. Send in questions you have about your child or the grade level and it might be answered in the video!

πŸ‘©β€πŸ« Attention Teachers: I am still looking for teachers to work with for the 5th, 2nd, 1st, and Kindergarten videos. Interested? Respond to this email with your grade level for more details.

Things I Love

πŸ“² Best Screen Protector: As a frequent phone dropper, I invest in cases and protectors that can take the brunt of the fall. I've been using this screen protector brand for years. I just bought a new three pack to set me up for plenty more drops.

🎾 page turner: I just finished reading Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This story follows a famous tennis player that returns to win one last tournament. The main character is brash, unlikable, and yet...I found myself rooting for her. Not quite a series, but I love TJR's books because the characters are intertwined. The more you read, the more she references characters from her other novels.
