Quit Everything

"Will you call when you're back at school?"

August by Taylor Swift

‾ïļ 2 tickets left- Come hang this Thursday at the 6:15 pm School Talk Workshop

Hello Reader,

This is the season of signing up... New clubs, sports team, after school playdates, new friend's birthday parties all at the same time while you adjust to a new schedule, restart the homework routine, and get your kiddo used to the new school year.

This is a season of over commitments and saying yes...but this year, I encourage you to start saying no

  • The Joy of Opting Out It can be tempting to sign up for very last activity, but 6 weeks from now when your calendar is full you may regret it. It's back to school right now...but in a month it will be the fall festivals, and then the holiday season. Do a favor to "future you" and commit a little less.
  • Focus on your routine creating a consistent routine now will be an investment for the entire year. It will give your child (and you!) a sense of normalcy those weeks when things are a little hectic.
  • September is sacred Last year I tutored a child all of August to get them ready for the new school year. But when September came, their mom said "No." She doesn't allow any after school activities in September. This helps everyone adjust to the new schedule and ensures her child still has free play time after school. We resumed in October no problem.

What's New?

🍎 Opt in: Speaking of being too busy ðŸĪŠ My week is filled!

Things I Love

ðŸĪŒ Mike's Rec!: Today's rec comes from my husband. We have had our Stasher reusable storage bags for 5 years now and they are still like new. Mike packed my lunchbox using their sandwich / snack bags when I was still teaching. Dishwasher friendly and durable- They are having a 20% off sale this week!

ðŸ‘ŧ Spooky...but cute: I'm loving Girl Tribe's Halloween collection! This brand is local to Charlotte and has fun t-shirt drops. My fav is this ghost shirt. Also made in youth sizes for a fun matching moment.

📚 Author Highlight: One of my favorite authors for young children is Taro Gomi. This Japanese author writes and illustrates differently than most American authors. His stories are imaginative yet simple and his illustrations are colorful, yet minimal. They really center the child as they read and encourage them to use their imagination.

Have a great day! New workshop dates drop this week- get on the waiting list!
