✳️ People keep asking me...

"And all the love alive in me
I'll stand as tall as the tallest tree"

I'm Here by Cynthia Erivo from The Color Purple

✏️ There are still tickets left for the kindergarten workshop this Friday!

Hi Reader,

Does this sound familiar?

I'm worried my child doesn't know his letters

My child was born in August, should we start kindergarten "early" or "late?"

Should we look at private schools?

We got accepted to a magnet school 5 miles away, is it worth it?

My child can't read yet, will she be behind in kindergarten?

The transition to kindergarten is HARD. It can feel like a million decisions. And if you live in a town like mine, there are dozens of schools to choose from.

Asking your friends what do to is nice, but wouldn't it be nice to talk to an actual kindergarten teacher?

I've launched a workshop series for parents and caretakers of rising kindergartners. The first one is this Friday at 10am in Charlotte, NC. After you buy your ticket, I'll send you a survey so I can personalize the workshop to your needs. Hope to see you there!

What's New?

πŸ¦… DoEd: Y'all, things keep happening, so I keep having to delay the release of this video! The run down of what's happening with the Dept. of Education will come out later this week. While you're waiting, I highly recommend you check out the Edu-Take youtube channel. Jaretta makes great videos about education policy.

πŸ₯Ύ Saxapahaw: Last weekend I went to a really special music venue in Saxapahaw, NC. This small river outpost hosts beautiful events. The whole town is essentially built into an old textile mill. Before the concert (The Tallest Man on Earth) we got to walk along the river, watch the sunset, and enjoy a great meal at the only restaurant in town. If you ever get a chance to go to the Haw River Ballroom, you should!

Things I Love

β˜€οΈ Great jeans, great price: I've been on the hunt for jeans that aren't $100, so I went to a throwback...American Eagle. I was really pleasantly surprised to see how many styles of jeans they have, how descriptive the website is to find exactly what you want. And the price?? Amazing! Right now most of their jeans are marked down to around $45! I got these and these

πŸ’° Lifestyles of the rich and the famous: If you love celebrity memoirs, then you'll love this podcast. I've been binging Wondery's Even the Rich podcast. It shares the life stories of celebrities and influential people.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ”¬ Chemistry: Digi-Bridge is an organization in Charlotte, NC that brings after school STEAM clubs to local elementary and middle schools. They bring hands on science and engineering programs to kids in underserved communities. They are fundraising for next school year.

There's been a lot of wild weather in the US this week. I hope you are safe and sound πŸ’•

It was so great meeting you all in the community last week Hi Reader, As a business owner I've been deep in thought about the struggle. "You never say hey, or remember my name, and it's probably 'cause you think you're cooler than me" Cooler Than Me by Mike Posner Hi Reader, Tomorrow I'll release my favorite advice for families of 4th graders. In the video, I answered questions submitted by you. Here's one question that felt so relatable: Question 1: My child is definitely acting like a tween. I notice some tension when friends come over. She still wants to play with toys. Some of her friends will join in, while others seem a...
