"If you want it we can get right to it"Right To It by Louis the Child, Ashe Need something upbeat? Check out my Election Day Happy Hour Playlist!β Hello hello Reader, What a week! Halloween on a Saturday, We changed the clocks, today is election day, and where I live the kids didn't have school Monday and Tuesday this week. It's only Tuesday and I'm pooped! But tonight we will see a new class of politicians win their races. Midterm elections are a really big deal...which begs the question: how much should the kids know about this? Should Kids Know About Current Events? The more you know, the more you know... I'm in the camp of letting children know about age appropriate news coverage. It's important to know there's a world beyond your neighborhood. Watching the news is the way to do this. As a child, I grew up watching the nightly news and hearing about the world around us. As an adult, I'm thankful to know about these things. I'm glad I was tuned into the world from the late 90s and on. It makes it so much easier to understand world news today and how these things connect. We're not doom scrolling The way a lot of people consume news isn't healthy. We doom scroll on social media and are often getting commentary at the same time we learn the news. I think we can all agree it's not a healthy way to learn. My best advice is to put on the 30 minute nightly news coverage. You know...like what we used to watch on cable? All the major networks still air news daily- you can stream or watch on their websites. I like these programs because they condense important topics into tiny segments. Topics may be heavy, but they are still appropriate to air on tv. And almost every time they end with some good news. No need to doom scroll- learn what happened and keep it moving How do you handle this in your house? Respond to this email with your thoughts! Here's a quick sponsorship from Kit- I use Kit to write my newsletters! If you've ever wanted to start one, I highly recommend them β¬οΈ What's New?π¬ A Little Anxious: My next workshop is Friday and honestly...not a lot of people have signed up. It was so much fun- if you ever get a chance, go run around town with your mom in costume. We ended the night at Savannah Smiles Dueling Piano Bar singing Sweet Caroline. Things I LoveπΈ Seeing you! I've got 3,977 instagram followers- can you get my to 4,000 today??? follow me! πββ¬ Impulse Buy: I bought this for my halloween costume and it's actually really nice quality.
